Kids & Spa in Greece
Long gone are the days when kids at the spa and spa treatments for kids sounded wrong. With more and more guests having interest in spa treatments for kids and prominent spa centers around the globe investing on building entire spas for children (e.g in Switzerland), a new trend in family travel has arisen. Spas are not only places for beautification but also for being well, excercising, developing healthy eating habits and learning that calmness and peacefulness is critical for wellness of body and mind. Through this perspective, more and more spas and forward looking hotels for which, health and wellness for all are top of the agenda, reconsider their policies for children at the spa and start designing spa packages for kids and families.
With these considerations in mind, Best Luxury Spas in Greece conducted an inquiry as to how greek hotels and spas embrace this new trend and presents the spas that welcome kids in their facilities or offer spa menus specialy designed for children.
Recommendations for children using spas
Certain spas can be used by children only under the surveillance of a parent or escort and with respect to the tranquility of the environment. The parent or escort should maintain eye contact with the kids at all times when they are using the pool or the hot tub, whereas the use of sauna, steam room and other heated rooms by young children is not recommended. According to the guidelines of CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and of APSP (Association of Pool & Spa Professionals), children under the age of 5 should not use the hot tubs, due to the risk of overheating and dehydration. Older children can be allowed to use the hot tubs, for 5minutes maximum at the temperature of 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) and up to 15 minutes at lower temperatures and provided that they are healthy and can stand on the bottom with their head completely out of the water. Diving in the hot tub is prohibited and children should be encouraged to drink fresh water while using the hot tub and after the use.
